The situation that encapsulates this for me, was my tenure as Chair of my parish's Pastoral Council. No one wanted the seat. I volunteered. Then I spent the next two years being criticized for not doing the job "right." 🙃 Whoo, buddy. Talk about keeping a girl humble!

Oh, the BUT people. Great examples, I often hear those when people were unable to literally hear what I was saying, as in they wear hearing aids or don't but need to. Now I start all my talks by checking that folks can hear me. But, like Lisa said, the but helps me grow!

I like the reminder about heatin abilities! We'd like to think these kinds of issues won't be an obstacle, but they are quite regularly.

Ooh good reminder to verify the sound! I usually do a sound check before speaking, but that doesn’t guarantee that people can hear when the room is full

Thanks! Seriously, though, only by the grace of the Holy Spirit and the encouragement of a good pastor... I was way out of my comfort zone.
